JICyouth BOYS STAY OVER
Ministry : JICyouth Fellowship
Date : 31 August 2017
Title : JICyouth Boys Stayover

There are not many opportunities outside the regular youth meetings to spend quality time with the youths. This stayover presented the youth leaders with a golden opportunity to encourage those who are new to the faith and to share the gospel to those who are not yet Christians.

The theme of the stayover centered around the idea of forgiveness. We began the day by reading the passage of the "Unmerciful Servant" from Matthew 18:21-35:

21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, 'Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times'
22 Jesus answered, 'I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

From here, the youth were taught to forgive those who have wronged us, and have sincerely asked for our forgiveness. Drawing the lesson from that passage, the youth were challenged to put that teaching to a test in a game of floorball where accidents and frictions were bound to arise.

At night, the youths had the opportunity to watch the movie "End of the Spear", a movie based on the account of 5 missionaries who were killed trying to reach out to a murderous tribe in the Amazonian rain forest. To sum up the movie, the passage of Luke 23:26-43 was considered. At this point, the idea of Christ dying for the world, and that He now commands all man to repent of their sins took centre stage. The gospel was then preached to the youths, who in return had many questions and opinions about why the Lord Jesus Christ had to shed His blood on the cross for our sins, and why it is important that we leave our old life of sin in order to pursue a fruitful life in Christ.
