YF ACTIVITY: THE RIGHT FOCUS
Ministry : Youth Felllowship
Date : 15 October 2017
Title : YF Object Lesson (2 Timothy 2:4): The Right Focus

This write-up is a follow up to the youth fellowship object lesson "The Right Focus" that took place on the 15th October.

No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.
2 Timothy 2:4 (NKJV) We become a soldier for Christ when we first accept Jesus Christ as our personal saviour. Our main job after that is to ensure that all we do pleases Christ. We are to serve Him and give of our best to Him (How are you serving God in church?).

"fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Hebrews 12:2

Very often, our focus on serving God wavers. Satan throws many things along our paths that it causes us to be ineffective in our service for Christ. One of these things is sin. In Hebrews 12:1, it talks about sin being something that very "easily entangles us". Satan often uses sin so effectively to the point of causing those who are active and fervent in service for the Lord to fall away and stop focusing on Christ all together because of the guilt from the sins they have committed. We as Christian soldiers have to be careful on not to be trapped by sin the sins in our lives. For many of us it could be pornography, gossip, hate etc etc.
We cannot indulge in the things that the Bible says is wrong but instead set our eyes back on Jesus who is the "author and perfecter" of our faith. The longer we stay in sin, the more we become numb to it. Letting go of sin at this point becomes very hard as it has become apart of us, and we feel too guilty to come back to God because of that. It cannot be stressed enough that when we sin, we must confess our sins to God and turn away from them, because "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). God will forgive our sins! That is the whole point of Jesus dying on the cross. Therefore we must set our focus back on Christ !

Take Home Lesson
For the object lesson the youths were tasked to take pictures according to the themes given. In order tho win this challenge, the groups must take photos that most effectively represent the themes. The themes in this case represent Christ. To stay focused on it will ensure that you are on the right path, but as mentioned before, we often lose focus. As a result...

This photo taken was supposed to represent "1960", but why is there a handphone in it ?
