YF UPDATE: STAYING FOCUSED
Ministry : Youth Fellowship

Title : Sports Sunday

"No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer."
2 Timothy 2:4

Paul had a way of speaking to a person that challenges them both spiritually and intellectually. In this instance, he used the example of a soldier to represent a Christian's walk with Christ on this earth; How should one live their lives to please God. A soldier is a person that strictly follows the instructions of his commanding officer without questioning the reasons for that command. He just does it, as his sole purpose in his unit is to please his commanding officer.

As Christians, we are called to be soldiers of Christ (2 Timothy 2:3). Not the kind that takes up arms to attack an enemy, but as an obedient soldier that wants nothing more than to obey Christ's commands like "loving one another, as I have loved you" (John 13:34) and "making disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19); Knowing that by doing this, it will please the Heavenly Father, as it is said:

"Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them."
John 14:21

The youth fellowship instead of playing outdoor sports for Sports Sunday conducted an indoor object lesson to "test" the focus of the youth members. The first task is trying to keep a tissue paper from falling to the ground by blowing it against a vertical wall. All group members have to work together to contribute in the blowing. The next task is to answer as many as many tricky questions as possible in the quickest time. The main emphasis of these games was to showcase the importance of focusing on Christ in our everyday lives and not be distracted by "civilian affairs" or things that will hinder our walk in Christ and growth in our faith.

REMEMBER: FOCUS
Focus on Christ and his finished work on the cross, focus on His love for us that led Him to die on the cross for our sins and focus on pleasing Him by living a life worthy of our calling (Ephesians 4:1).

The JICyouth Fellowship is a ministry dedicated to youths aged 12-19 and meets every Sunday from 12:00pm to 2:15pm in the youth room at Level 3.

Keep the JIC youth ministry in prayer as it is the next generation of the church here in Jalan Imbi. Here are a few specific prayer items to pray for the youths:
1. That the Lord will open up their hearts to study His word
2. That the youths will to learn and grow to love the Lord and to be worshipers of Him
